William J. Owens III, age 64 of Bridgeport passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on October 13, 1950 he was the son of the late Dr. William J. Owens and Helen O'Dell Owens. For many years William was a manager at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. He was proud to be a Boy Scout in his youth and was a member of the Kawanis Club and the NRA. He is survived by his sister Helen Owens Hartel of Middlefield as well as his niece, Lisa Hartel Wigforss and her children Peter and Matthew. He is also survived by extended family, Marilyn Lopez, Lori, John and Spencer Poulin. Graveside services will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:00 am In the Union Cemetery, 23 Temple Court, Stratford. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the First Congregational Church, 23 S. Main Street, Wallingford, CT 06492, assigned to the General Memorial Fund.
