Vera M. Hilker, age 86, widow of Frederick Hilker, passed away on October 24, 2015 at Maefair Health Care , Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport on February 24, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Esther Phillips Wesche. She was a secretary with Milford Hospital for 16 years before her retirement and then became a faithful volunteer at the hospital. Vera loved traveling and cruises. She enjoyed bowling, badminton, volunteering at Mary Taylor Methodist Church in Milford and walking the 5K marathons. Survivors include 3 sons; Douglas Hilker and his wife Karen of Indianapolis, IN, Jeffrey Hilker Sr. of Meriden and David Hilker Sr. of New Haven. Grandchildren, Jason, Jeff Jr., Noah and Elisha, and also Alana, David Jr. and Madysin and their mother Kendra Brown. A great grandson, Trevor and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by her long time companion, Roy Green of Milford. She was predeceased by her brothers; Christopher (Bud) Wesche and George F. Wesche and her sister; Phyllis (Bubbles) O'Brien. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford with the Rev. Brian Bodt, Pastor of M.T.M.C. officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to services.
