Valerie Fattibene Matarazzo, age 71, of Stratford passed away on September 20, 2024 in Bridgeport Hospital.

Valerie was born in Bridgeport to Michael and Josephine (Foffa) Fattibene. She graduated from Bunnell High School in Stratford in 1971, then attended hairdressing school where she got her license. She was a top stylist in Westport and Southport for many years. She loved animals and through the years had numerous dogs and cats, as well as feeding all the strays in the neighborhood. She also loved music and attended concerts whenever she could.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband Joseph Matarazzo Jr. of 39 years and her cherished sons Joseph Matarazzo III of Portland, Oregon, and Raymond Michael Matarazzo of New Haven, Connecticut, as well as three brothers, Michael (Rosemary) Fattibene, Richard (Elaine) Fattibene, and Philip Fattibene, and her mother-in-law Emma Matarazzo and two sisters-in-law Janet (John) DiMenna and Marie (Bruce) Sawyer, five nephews and a niece, and a lifetime of dear friends. She is also survived by her cousin Mary Grace (Tom) DiGiacinto of New Hampshire who was like a sister to her and her cousin Robert Mihaley of Stratford who she was very close to.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm with  a celebration of life service at 6:30 pm at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford.
