Ullie L. (Stuart) Drew, age 86, of Shelton passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the widow of Gerald Arthur Drew.

Born in Bridgeport, on December 25, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Harold and Ullie Stowe Stuart. She was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1955. After high school, Ullie attended Traphegen School of Fashion and Art in New York City accompanied by a grade school friend. This was a two-year course that led to work at Vouge patterns and water colorings. She worked in Greenwich and Condé Nast NYC where she specialized in her art work. Ullie married her first husband, Joseph S. Gilmore leaving New York City and prioritized starting a family with the birth of her son Robert W. Gilmore in 1960. In her free time she took on craft shows where she met like-minded professionals, broadening her skills and maintaining friendships.

In 1964, Ullie remarried to her second husband Gerald A. Drew, shortly after this she gave birth to her daughter Linda. J. Drew in 1965. The family lived together in Bridgeport until moving to Stratford in 1983, she later moved to Shelton with Jerry in 2014. Eventually she decided to take on florist work, hotel decorating and weddings. She specialized in hand crafting flowers with dried roses using her own process. In the years to come, she met a woman that decorated real eggs of all sizes and Ullie decided to take on this new type of craft. The eggs were hand decorated using chicken, goose, rhea and ostrich eggs and she would later sell them at craft shows.

Ullie is survived by her son, Robert W. Gilmore of Shelton, daughter-in-law Susanne Gilmore of Shelton, grandchildren Benjamin and Evan of Shelton and her sister Peggy Ferris of Southport. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Drew and her daughter Linda Drew.
