Thomas R. Kowalsky, age 60, beloved husband of Marianne Card, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2018, with his loving family by his side.

Tom was born to the late Joseph P. and Lorraine (Lane) Kowalsky. He graduated from Staples High School in 1976. He worked his lifetime for Kowalsky Brothers Inc., alongside most of his family members, until his recent retirement. "Fireball" gave it his all and best.

In addition to his wife, Marianne, of 37 years, he is survived by two sons; Brian Kowalsky and his wife Victoria (Pritchard), and Michael Kowalsky. He is also survived by four brothers and their wives; Jay and Jackie, Donald and Missy, Gary and Linda, and Daryle and Susie, and their children and grandchildren, as well as many cousins and in-laws.

Tom loved his sons. He coached them, camped with them, moved band equipment for them, watched them perform, and taught them about taking care of things. They were his pride and joy. He enjoyed driving his Viper, sky watching in the hot tub, water-skiing on vacation, lighting fireworks, cheering for the Penguins, and meticulously maintaining his lawn.

Tom was an active member of the Stratford United Methodist Church where he used his "fix-it" skills, and had fun flipping pancakes, selling pumpkins, decorating the sanctuary, and raking leaves, among other things, for many years. He participated in the Appalachian Service Project for two years and wanted to do more. The love and support from his congregation lifted his spirits and strengthened him.

Tom participated in Boy Scout Troop 72 with his sons and then continued his involvement as Charter Organization Rep. He loved a roaring campfire and a good meal eaten with friends. He contributed his knowledge and labor to many Eagle Scout projects over the years.

Tom will be deeply missed and in our hearts forever.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main St., Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Stratford United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
