Obituary

Susan C. Koty, passed away on November 9, 2023 after a four  year battle with cancer.  Born on August 21, 1952, to Andrew Kopczynski and Elizabeth "Betty" Kopen, Sue was one of three daughters.  She is survived by older sister, Patricia Bouteiller, and younger sister, Bim Blagriff.  Sue was happily married to Joseph J. Koty for almost fifty years before he passed suddenly in 2019.  They are both survived by their daughters Stacy E. Koty, Carol A. Koty, and son-in-law Nicholas Sidorick IV.

A few paragraphs cannot begin to sum up a life or express the impact they had on everyone they loved.  Her family hopes to give you insight to the amazing person Sue will always be remembered as:

Sue had an affinity for accounting and numerical data.  She made a career for over thirty years in financial accounting in the automotive industry before retiring to become a fulltime caretaker for her family.  She used her prowess outside of the workplace as well.  Sue was very active in numerous Masonic, charitable, and religious organizations.  She was an active member in the Order of the Amaranth, following in the footsteps of generations of strong women before her.  She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and served on the Board of Trustees for Masonicare.

As a loving wife and mother, Sue often put her family's interests above all else.  She actively supported her daughters' passions, whether it was spending hours on the field as a Bunnell High School marching band mom or cooking side by side at the World Food Championships with Carol, or watching Hallmark movies together or cheering for competitors on reality shows with Stacy.

Sue also had a wide range of interests and hobbies.  She was very connected with her Irish and Polish heritage, and she absolutely loved all things related to Ireland.  Sue was an animal lover, but always had a special love for cats.  She enjoyed judge and court television shows, Judge Judy being her all-time favorite.  She loved Broadway and the theater, especially musicals.  Josh Groban was one of her favorite vocalists, and she was thrilled to see him live on Broadway several years ago.  An avid collector, Sue enjoyed Norman Rockwell art, Avon plates, and Christmas villages.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue's memory may be made to the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and/or the Masonicare Charity Foundation.
