We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Steven C. Turner of Stratford, CT who died unexpectedly. Steven was born on February 5, 1954 in Queens, NY and went to his eternal home on January 26, 2025.
"Steve" as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him for the way he lived his life, and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Steven was preceded in death by his loving Mother, Dorothy Turner. He is survived and missed by his loving wife and best friend, Nancy Burban. His memory lives on with his children, Scott, Stefanie and Shawn Turner, and loving daughter-in law Rayma as well as his cherished grandchildren, Eli, Emmitt, Ella-Raye Turner of Queens, NY and Vevolyn of Florida.
Steven was a true lover of life; he was a humorous storyteller, determined backyard tomato gardener, and dedicated Beatles fan.
Steven loved Broadway plays; especially black plays, movies, comics and watches. He often said that in his past life that he was a "Timekeeper".
As a two-time 4th stage cancer survivor, Steven fought a valiant fight over the past few 15 years. We know him as a funeral counselor, a friend to many, an avid Mets/Jets fan, a photographer, a gourmet chef, a kind, sincere man, and a loving father/grandfather. Was also a caring, wonderful husband of 18 years to the love of his life; Nancy Burban. He will be missed beyond measure.
Steven earned a Master's degree in Communications at Queens College in Queens, NY and achieved a high level of respect as a Videotape editor at ABC, Viacomm, AP and other media companies.
In the last years of his life Steven became the first African American to write and host a podcast; FuneralProChat, which was his passion and to which he received many accolades.
Steven was known for his infectious smile and unwavering kindness; always putting other before himself. His warmth was astonishing.
