Obituary

Steven A. Leighton, beloved husband of Beth Carpenter Leighton, passed away unexpectedly at St. Vincent's Medical Center on June 2, 2017.

Born in Laconia, New Hampshire on April 5, 1947 he was the son of the late Clifton and Violet Cormeir Leighton. Steven was a man of many hats. He was the welding foreman at Bergon & Patterson in New Hampshire, was an owner/operator of Captain Bob's Seafood, Fireman Rescue and EMT on the Winnisquam Fire Department in New Hampshire and then on the Woodsville Fire Department also in New Hampshire. Steven was a Blue Cross Instructor for 30 years and was a Fire Marshal in the state of New Hampshire. He moved to Connecticut in 1995 and worked as a seafood manager at Shaw's Supermarket and was owner and operator of the JanPro cleaning franchise. He then worked as a Seafood and Meat clerk at Big Y Supermarkets. Steven was always a very loving and hardworking man who loved to make people laugh.

In addition to his loving wife Beth, Steven is survived by his daughters Sue Vincent and her husband Gary, Shelley Wright and her husband Mark, Tracy Rawlins and her husband Daniel, Alisha Leighton and Jessica Nunno Grant, his son Scott Nunno, a brother Alan Leighton and his wife Donna, a sister Anne Trefrey, his loving aunt Joan Cormier and her husband Don Lockwood and two grandchildren Dakota and Cheyenne Wright. Steven was predeceased by his sister Elaine Kelleher.

Friends may greet the family on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 6:30 p.m. officiated by Deacon Raymond Chernevak at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home 2611 Main St. Stratford CT 06615. Full military honors will follow the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family in New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery, Boscawen, New Hampshire.
