Stephen James Neumann Sr., age 65 of Middlebury passed away on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at Connecticut Hospice. Born in Bridgeport he was the son of the late Ervin and Patricia Weir Neumann. He owned and operated the Hill consignment shop in New Haven, Connecticut which he was very proud of. Stephen enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, gardening and reading the bible. Survivors include a son, Stephen J. Neumann Jr. and his wife Shannon, a brother, Joseph M. Neumann Sr. and his wife Lisa, a granddaughter, Paige, 2 nephews, Joseph Neumann Jr. and Patrick Neumann, his sister in law, Jane Neumann and several nieces and nephews in Minnesota. He was predeceased by his brother John Neumann. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Christian funeral service on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford with Deacon Kenneth Ewaskie of the Church of the Good Shepard in Seymour, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to services. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the Connecticut Hospice Staff, Nurses and Doctors for their love and compassion and to all who participated in his wonderful care at Employment Options especially his friend Mark Berko.
