Shirley Tschinkel, age 93 of Wallingford, formerly of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Masonicare in Wallingford. She was the widow of Charles Tschinkel. Born in Maspeth, New York on May 31, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Henry and Jenny Vail Petre. Shirley was active with the VFW in NY and VFW Post 9460 in Stratford, she was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Tschinkel was devoted to the First Congregational Church in Stratford where she was a past deacon, member of the senior choir, Sister Cities choir and played the bells. She is survived by her loving daughter Lynn Madero and her husband Joseph Sr. of Surprise, AZ and her devoted grandchildren, Gabrielle Brown and her husband Ian of Wallingford and Joseph Madero Jr. and his wife Michelle of Sandy Hook. She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Cara Brown, Zoey Brown, Louie Madero and Lianna Madero, also 7 nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and beloved husband Charles, she was predeceased by her nephew and godson, John Tschinkel. The hours of visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford. Graveside services will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Union Cemetery in Stratford followed by a Service and Reception at 12:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Stratford with Rev.
