Obituary

Ronald Lee Jersey Sr., age 65 of Milford, previously of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday May 11, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Maurice and Dolores Warner Jersey. After high school, he joined the US Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War where he was a specialty OH-23 Heli aircraft Mechanic & Rpmn. He received numerous service medals, Bronze Stars and badges. Ronald was a Lieutenant with the Stratford Police Department and retired after 31 years of service. He was dedicated to serve the people of Stratford with the highest level of professionalism and ensured the safety of all communities. He was an active member of the Stratford P.A.L., marched in the Memorial Day Parade every year and was an advocate for helping those in need; especially fundraising for the Special Olympics. He was a member of the Vietnam Vets and the flight group for Eagle 1, Fairfield County Law Enforcement. He was a devout Christian and long time active member of the Milford Christian Church. Survivors included his beloved wife Pamela Electa Farr Jersey of Milford, devoted sons; Ronald L. Jersey Jr. and his wife Brenda of West Haven, Brian M. Jersey and Stephen P. Jersey both of Milford, his children's mother, Donna Jersey of Milford, stepchildren, Pamela E. Gill and husband Joseph of Milford and Matthew D. Bonaiuto of Fairfield, and two additional step daughters. A brother, Robert Jersey and wife Mary of Ansonia, 2 sisters, Andrea Keating of Ansonia and Kathleen Morin and husband Serge of Naugatuck, 2 step grandchildren, Payton E. Gill and Raegyn L. Gill, several nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Monday May 16, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday May 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. James Loomer, Pastor of Milford Christian Church Officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
