Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ron Goddard, who left us on December 6, 2025. Born on December 5, 1941, Ron spent most of his life in Shelton, CT, where he and his beloved wife Betty, married since 1963, had a home filled with music, warmth, and love.

Ron was a kind man and a gentle giant, known for the deep care he gave to his family — his wife Betty; his children Allison (and Mike), Jeff (and Rachel), and Laurel (and Bill); and his cherished grandchildren Alex, Jessica, Cate, and Emma.

Ron cherished his children. In order for his son Jeff to be in scouting Ron became Cub Master for Troop 25 in Shelton.  He was behind the troop going on many trips together.  Some of the trips were to Washington, Boston and sleeping over at Battleship Cove in Mass.  He became an EMT for Echo Hose Ambulance Corp volunteering along his wife Betty. He worked for many years at Sikorsky Aircraft, retiring about 20 years ago.

Ron also cherished his longtime close friends, including so many wonderful people he met and grew close to at the Shelton Senior Center. Their companionship meant the world to him, and they added joy, laughter, and support to his days.

Music was woven into every part of Ron's life. He loved to sing, and he shared that love by singing in and directing his church choir, as well as leading the Shelton Songsters at the senior center. His presence, his voice, and his generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He also was past president of the Shelton Senior Center Membership board.

We take comfort in imagining him now, free from the pain he carried for so long, walking freely again, just as he did as a younger man. And we know he's already at a pinochle table in heaven with Great Bob Bop (George) and Aunt Betty (Fleck), with his loyal dog Shadow right by his side.

Ron's life was full of love, service, friendship, and song — and his memory will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rather than holding a traditional funeral, a celebration of Ron's life will be planned in the near future.
