Robert Hugh Smith, age 83, husband of the late Elsie Ruether Smith passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 1, 2014. Born in Quincy, MA, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Burgess Smith. He served in the US Army and was an employee of S.N.E.T Company for thirty years before his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed , reading, watching boxing and crossword puzzles. Robert was a member of the Germania Schwaben Hall, the East End Yacht Club of Bridgeport and the Moose Club in Milford. Survivors include his devoted children, Timothy Smith, Kathleen Smith-Boyd and Linda Duguay-Duncan all of Stratford, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Smith and sister Marylyn Auger. Friends are invited to attended funeral services on Monday December 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford with Father Bruce Roby, officiating. Burial will follow in Nichols Farm Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family during visitation on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home prior to services.
