Robert Austin Harbinson, age 87, of Shelton died June 21, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Sarah Harbinson and the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Harbinson of Northern Ireland. He came to the USA in 1954. He graduated from Bridgeport Engineering Institute in 1972 as a mechanical engineer. A few years later, he started a family business, IDA, in Derby where he worked until he retired.

Survivors are his wife Sarah, sons Thomas and Norman, daughter Sharon Salmon and his grandchildren, John, Abigail, and Ben Harbinson as well as Lea and Megan Salmon. He is pre-deceased by his sister Rae and survived by nieces throughout the UK.

Calling hours will be Sunday June 25, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford. A memorial service will be held Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 2475 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Griffin Hospital - Development Fund (www.griffinhealth.org) or the First Presbyterian Church - Memorial Garden (www.firstpresby.net).
