Robert "Bob"
Gost
d. Jan 30, 2026
Robert "Bob" Gost, age 92, lifelong resident of Milford, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026.
He was predeceased by his wife, Malvine "Bunny" Gost in 2009, all of his siblings, George, Henry, Sophie, Genevieve, Lillian, and Mary, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his two sons, William Gost of Milford, and Robert Gost of Bridgeport, grandson, Jason Gost of Wisconsin, nephew, Don DeForge of Milford, and nieces, Laura Pendleton of Milford, and Carol Koval of New Hampshire.
Born on the family farm on January 13, 1934, to Phillip and Katherine Gost, Bob became the Man of the Farm when his father passed when he was 5 years-old and his two older brothers went off to the Army in WW2. By age 8 he was driving tractors and doing chores of adults. His farm life changed when he met his future wife, Bunny, and he went to work for Westinghouse, working to the position of Foreman Electrical Technician. When Bryant relocated, Bob retired early to a few different jobs, with one of his favorites being a driver for the Kennedy Center in Trumbull, which he did up to the time of his wife's passing.
His hobbies included a lifetime membership to AMA, Academy of Model Aeronautics, building and flying model airplanes on a competitive level starting in the 1950's. He won many trophies and awards at the state and national levels for his construction quality and flying. In between, he coached Little League Baseball in the 60's, and later enjoyed saltwater fishing on his boat, while talking on the CB radio with his friends. He loved his cars, gardening, raising vegetables, and most of all his dogs.
A family Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Feb 12, 2026 at the Dennis and D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. In lieu of flowers, Bob's favorite charity was Wounded Warriors Foundation. Interment will be at the Union Cemetery with his wife on a date to be scheduled.
