Obituary

Robert Dayton Field, age 96 of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Bishop Wicke Health Care. He was the widower of Dorothy McConnell Field. Born in Waterbury on May 25, 1918 he was the son of Robert and Madelyn Rehm Field. He was a line trouble shooter for 41 years with the UI until his retirement. Robert was a Gunner's Mate 2nd Class with the US Navy Seabees, Construction Battalion #139 during WWII. He was a Mason with Washington Lodge #19 in Monroe, a past member of American Legion Post 10 in Seymour and life member of the Long Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his loving children; Robert (Barbara) Field Jr. of Southington, David (Laura) Field of Oxford, Gary Field of Bristol, Susan (William) Bachlechner of Trumbull and Karen Cofield of Beacon Falls. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife he was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Bond and great grandson Benjamin Johnson. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 12:30 pm at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford. Interment with full military honors will follow in Long Hill Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 at the funeral home.
