Obituary

Robert Edward Drummond, age 74, of Stratford, CT, and Naples, FL, (formerly of Woodbridge, CT) passed away Sunday, July 23, with his wife and daughter by his side. He died of a heart attack in Bridgeport Hospital following a 13-year, courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of John and Rose Farmer Drummond. Bob attended schools in New Britain and Berlin, CT, and graduated from CCSC with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Political Science. While at CCSC he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. Bob did master's work in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the University of Bridgeport under a teaching scholarship.
He was Director of Human Resources in several Connecticut companies and retired from U. S. Repeating Arms Company, Inc. (Winchester). Bob served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Specialist in the 340th General Hospital Unit in New Haven from 1966-1972 during the Viet Nam War.
He was predeceased by his father, John A. Drummond, his mother, Rose Farmer Drummond Pikutis, his stepfather, Edward Pikutis, his brother, John R. Drummond, and John's wife Norma Nielson Drummond.
His is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet Johnson Drummond, his daughter, Kara Marion Pope L.P.N., his sisters, Christine Drummond Colaiacovo (Pat), and Beverly Pikutis Cunnane (John), and many nieces and nephews.
In the past, he had been a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the CT Personnel Association. Also, he had served as President of the Bridgeport Personnel Association.
He was an avid tennis player at the Paugusset Club and in many area tournaments. He played tennis on the American Chain and Cable Company tennis team. Also, he ran for years in the early mornings and in area races. Lately, he took up bocce!
Bob was a compassionate friend and a wonderful listener. He helped many people with writing resumes and referring them for jobs. Bob was a rock and roll trivia expert winning several contests and enjoyed compiling CDs for his friends. He loved new cars and owned a variety of sports cars, convertibles, and automobiles through the years. Over the last few years he had made many new friends both at Oronoque Village in Stratford and at the Tropic Schooner community in Naples.
His family wants to thank his physical therapists, his doctors, especially Dr. Emmanuel Logiadis and Dr. Phillip Barasch, as well as the Bridgeport Hospital Code Team for their valiant attempt to revive Bob.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 11, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 12, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral Home with the Rev. Boyd M. Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in Nichols Farm Cemetery, Trumbull.
