RN, Saundra (Sandy) (Mandulak) Erickson, age 82, passed away peacefully on November, 16, 2024. Born in New London, CT on March 10, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Cortucci) Mandulak.

Sandy had a life worth living and was dearly loved by many. After graduating from high school in 1960, she earned her nursing degree from Bridgeport Hospital's Nursing School. Sandy worked at Bridgeport Hospital for many years and became head nurse for 3 different departments, ultimately becoming the first head nurse of the burn unit for 12 years.

Sandy spent her life caring for others. Due to her expertise from the burn unit, Sandy became a burn treatment trainer traveling the country to go to every burn unit in the U.S to provide the latest techniques in burn care.

A friend of Bill W., for over 35 plus years Sandy sponsored many women getting their lives in order. Over the years Sandy befriended several others in difficulty through the end of their lives.

While at Hewitt Nursing Home at the end of Sandy's time here, the Connecticut State Nurses "Honor Guard" visited Sandy to give her a wonderful honor due to her nursing history and presented her with a beautiful tribute for her life in nursing.

Sandy will be sorely missed by her many friends and family many of whom were with her through the very difficult 2+ years following several strokes that debilitated Sandy.

Friends may gather for visitation on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Grace, 497 Second Hill Ln., Stratford, followed by interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.

Survivors include her dear friend, Samuel M. Rizzitelli and several cousins.
