Richard James Hidu, age 72, of Stratford passed away on November 12, 2025. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Benjamin Hidu and Ellouise McDowell McDonald and had been a lifelong area resident.

He was a retired salesman in the automotive industry and enjoyed his grandchildren and labs.

Survivors include his mother, Ellouise McDowell McDonald, beloved children, Kristin Brice and her husband Joseph, son Peter Hidu, grandchildren Hunter Brice, Kayleen Hidu and Gianna Hidu, brothers Timothy Hidu (Dale) and Robert McDonald, sisters Lisa Uvino, Sharon Gilleran (Bill), Jan Coubrough, and Wendy McDonald, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Benjamin Hidu, brothers David Hidu and Willard McDonald, and sister Susan LeBlond, as well as his dear drug and alcohol recovery sponsors King Dykeman and Harry Overend.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford.  A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home following the visitation.
