Paul Joseph Turner, age 72 of Stratford, passed away on January 2, 2021 at YNHH Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on March 12, 1948, he was a son of the late Ernest S. Turner Sr. and Anne Haydu Turner. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Melhouse Turner. He is also survived by his siblings; Elizabeth Holiday and her husband Burton of CA, John (Jack) Turner and his wife Perpetua of Stratford, George Turner and his wife Laura of FL, and Joanne Larrow and her husband Kevin of Beacon Falls; brother-in-law Raymond Rice of Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Paul was a graduate of Bullard Havens High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He worked at Raybestos in Stratford as a manufacturing foreman. Paul was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda. He was a proud member of the VFW Post 9460 where he had many roles. He was a chaplain, past commander and bartender for many years. He also served as a past Grand Marshall of the Stratford Memorial Day parade. Paul was a hard worker, kind hearted and also a good listener. He was also willing to teach or help a friend in need. He was a great story teller and had terrific sense of humor. He was an avid lottery player who always dreamed of the generous things he would do when he would one day hit it big. The VFW will feel a little emptier without him there and hope that all that knew him will offer up a toast and a prayer. He will be greatly missed.
Due to the pandemic, services will be held at a later date. Donations in Paul's memory may be made to VFW Post 9460, 100 Veterans Blvd., Stratford, CT 06615. To offer the family online condolences please visit www.dennisanddarcy.com
