Paul A. Smith, age 78, of Shelton, CT, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023, at CT Hospice in Branford. Born on January 22, 1945 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Alfred H. and Marion (Sargent) Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Donnalee J. (Moran) Smith.

Paul was a proud veteran of the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam era. He received his Bachelors in Business Management from the University of Bridgeport and had a successful career as Vice President of Banking until his retirement. Paul was a quintessential family man and loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed their trips to Maine where many wonderful memories were created. He had a passion for restoring antiques, stain glass windows, and steamer trunks. He was also an avid gardener and loved to be outside. He was a sports fan of all the Boston teams. The most joy was time spent watching his granddaughters sporting events  high school and college softball and his Irish step dancer.

A special note of appreciation to Dr Thomas Prebet and Lisa Barbarotta APRN for their care and compassion to Paul in addition to the staff at Smilow NP7 who he loved as family and all the nurses on NP 10,11 and 12 who have cared for him in this journey

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Paul (Megan) Smith and Brian Smith; granddaughters Jaclyn, Kasey and Emma; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Deborah Moran Olcese; and brothers-in-law William (Patricia) Moran, Robert (Kelly) Moran, and Dr. Ayman Hosny . In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Marilyn Smith, sister-in-law Gail Moran Hosny and brother in law, James Olcese.

Friends may greet the family on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 10:30am at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. Military honors will follow the Mass.
