Patricia Yvonne Seymour Gripp, 75 of Stratford, adoring wife and best friend to husband James A. Gripp for almost 52 years, went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2022 at home. Patty was born on March 4, 1947 in Bridgeport to James and Ida Seymour and was the big sister to four siblings. She was a graduate of Harding High School, The University of Bridgeport where she was a member of the Phi Lamba Nu Sorority, and Sacred Heart University receiving a Master's in Education.

Patty's heart of gold shined brightest upon her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her wisdom, strength, and goodness are a legacy for each of them as is her steadfast love for the Lord.

Patty loved teaching in the Stratford school system. Her students and coworkers brought her great joy and she took pride in her work. She chose her friends wisely and was the most sweet, loyal, and thoughtful person to have in your life. She would walk hand in hand with you through good and bad. She showed love through writing and sending cards for all occasions. She was filled with beautiful words. Patty and Jim took seriously their care ministry duties at Black Rock Church, where they have been members for 50 years, and spent countless hours making phone calls, delivering home cooked meals, and loving on people who needed a kind touch.

Her delights were found in life's simple treasures – petting a dog, smelling flowers, listening to birds singing, meals shared with cherished friends, crossword puzzles, watching the Westminster Dog Show, choosing a beautiful outfit for a new baby, watching the swans with Jim and a cup of hot black Dunkin Donuts coffee, and warm bread with real butter.

Carrying on her memory are her husband Jim, her children, Tia (Gripp) Unthank and son Corey Gripp and wife Saxon, her four grandchildren, Eli and Anna Cate Unthank and Rachel and Sophia Gripp, her siblings, Donna Yanosy (Paul), James Seymour III (Dawn), Charlotte Parrott (Jeff), Richard Seymour (Leah Ann), sisters in law Judy Pybus (Rick) and Trudy Gripp and many nieces, nephews, and extended loved ones.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Black Rock Church, 3685 Black Rock Tpke, Fairfield, CT on Saturday, August 6 at 11:00am, followed by a reception and time to greet the family. All are welcome.
