Obituary

Patricia "PJ" Dwyer (60) of Cape Elizabeth, Maine peacefully entered into eternal rest at Maine Medical Center on Monday January 26, 2015 after a short illness. Born in Portland, Maine to the late Roland Ricker and the late Joan Sullivan Ricker, PJ moved with her parents to Bridgeport, Connecticut at a young age where she attended St. Patrick's grammar school and graduated from Central High School. It was while living in Connecticut that she met her husband, the late Lawrence Dwyer of Bridgeport and gave birth to her only child, Lawrence Dwyer Jr. During this chapter of her life, PJ worked in the food service industry and in child care while she passed her love for cooking, movies, sports, books and music (both playing and listening) on to her son.
Although PJ lived in Connecticut, she spent the summers of her pre-teen and teenage years in Cape Elizabeth, ME at the home of her beloved Granny Sullivan; this is where she met a young man named Stephen Jordan. When PJ's husband Lawrence passed away in 2005, she moved back to Maine to stay with her cousin Tricia McAvoy while she mourned. It was then that she met back up with Stephen and the two were inseparable for the next ten years.
With Steve, PJ enjoyed fishing for lobsters and stripers as well as taking overnight trips to various places in Maine. When not fishing or bringing vegetables from William H. Jordan Farm to local retirement homes, she enjoyed sitting outside with a book while watching the dragonflies zip by.
In addition to her loving partner Stephen Jordan of Cape Elizabeth, ME, PJ is survived by her son Larry Dwyer Jr. and his wife Jennifer Dwyer of Derby, CT, her grandchildren Jaelynn and Owen Dwyer also of Derby, CT, her brother Sullivan Ricker of Parsonfield, ME and many cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the dedicated and wonderful staff at Maine Medical Center for the exceptional care and love given to PJ in her final days.
A memorial service will be held in the spring and a private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make a donation in her name to the American Liver Foundation. For online condolences please visit www.dennisanddarcy.com
