Patricia Young Brown, age 95, of Stratford passed away on Monday February 15, 2016 at Bishop Wicke Health Care Center. Born in Dallas, TX she was the daughter of the late E. Neal Young and Dorothy Flanders Young and the widow of the late Jerome M. Brown. She was a graduate of Central High School and received her A.A. degree at Junior College of Connecticut where she was a member of the National Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa. She attended master classes at the Julliard School of Music and Union Theological Seminary School of Sacred Music in New York. Pat appeared as guest soloist in many oratorios, operas, concerts and recitals throughout New England and Westchester County, NY. She served as contralto soloist at United Congregational Church in Bridgeport for nine years; contralto soloist at First Congregational Church, Stratford and soloist with the Stratford Oratorio Choir for eight years. Pat was also contralto soloist and member of the quartet at Park Avenue Temple, Bridgeport for twenty-two years. She served as the organist and choir director for over thirty years at Summerfield United Methodist Church, Bridgeport and also as organist and music director at Lordship Community Church, Stratford. Her involvement with music includes: serving as Dean of the Bridgeport Chapter, American Guild of Organists; President of the Wednesday Afternoon Musical Club and member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She taught voice and piano privately and also at Sterling Community Center. Pat enjoyed volunteering at Bridgeport Hospital for fourteen years. Survivors include cousins in England and Texas as well as close and cherished friends. Heartfelt thanks are extended to ALL staff at Bishop Wicke for their wonderful care, with special thanks to Pavilion 3 staff for their love and concern. Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services on Saturday February 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 2301 Main St. Stratford with Rev. Meg Williams officiating.
