Pablo de Jesús Colón Hijo, founder of Radio Cumbre Broadcasting 103.3 FM & 1450 AM in Bridgeport, CT passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on April 29th 2021 at the age of 86.

Pablo was an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather, and loving husband in his 50th year of marriage to his wife Migdalia.  He was our Papi, Papito, Abuelo, Abuelito, our Papá and we will miss him terribly.  His passions were music, reciting poetry, hosting family parties, decorating the house for Christmas and playing with his grandchildren.

His absence will also be greatly felt in our community.  "Don Pablo", as he was called by many, was an icon and pioneer of Spanish radio in CT.  During his more than 65 years as an on-air personality (51 in Connecticut) and radio station owner, he strongly believed it was his responsibility to be an advocate for the Latino community he served and entertained.  He would never hesitate to use his platform and position to shine a light on issues that affected his community.  He was an entrepreneur, advocate, and trailblazer who paved the way for many Latino business owners, media professionals, and community leaders.  He was a respected leader in the community and has been honored by various organizations for his efforts on their behalf and his accomplishments.  In 1993, he was inducted into the "Circulo de Locutores Dominicanos"; the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in his native Domincan Republic.  In 2008, Pablo & his wife Migdalia were national finalists for Radio Ink's "Medallas de Cortez" - Hispanic Broadcaster of the Year award, and in 2015 Pablo was inducted into the Connecticut Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame for his achievements.

Pablo was predeceased by his parents (Pablo de Jesús Colón Sr. & Ernestina Ferrer Colón), siblings (Napoleón Colón, Radhames Colón, Eufemia Pichardo, Fredita Colón, Concepción Colón), and children (Jose Angel Colón, Magaly Herrera, and Vilma Barrios.
