Nancy Rose Cappello Papa, of Stratford, widow of Frank Papa passed away on January 16, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, two months shy of her 100th birthday. Mrs. Papa, a resident of Cambridge Manor of Fairfield, was born in Kingston, NY on March 12, 1914, to Mary Occhipinti Cappello and Salvatore Cappello and raised in New York City. She moved with her family to Milford in 1930 and remained in Connecticut. She was a talented dressmaker, a fine cook and a volunteer for Bridgeport Health Care for 27 years after retirement. She was the devoted mother of Louise Norell and her husband Richard of Fairfield, Marianne Bevilacqua and her husband Frank of Guilford, and Roberta Shea and her husband Daniel of Stratford and Lorraine Papa of Stratford. She was the beloved grandmother of David Woiknoris, of Old Lyme and the loving sister of Salvatore Cappello, of Milford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in addition to her husband Frank, by brothers Carmelo and Joseph Cappello and a sister Emma Ballas. Mrs. Papa was the beloved friend of many. She lived her life with integrity and kindness and was a devout catholic. She will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank the medical staff and the Hospice Unit at St. Vincent's for their support, as well as Nancy's many friends and caring staff at Cambridge Manor. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Nancy's funeral on Tuesday January 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday January 20, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford.
