Nancy Ferencek, age 87, died on March 9, 2016. Nancy was born on December 14, 1928, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the only child of Kenneth and Ellen (MacDonald) Haight. She married William Ferencek in 1948 and raised two sons, Kenneth and Gary in Stratford, CT. Nancy and Bill moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 1997 to be near their son Kenneth, daughter-in-law Marcia and their two beloved granddaughters Ellen and Grace.
Nancy was a graduate of Bassick High School. She was a stay-at-home-mom when her children were young, and later did piece work at General Electric to save for her son's college education. Many knew her as a school secretary at Bunnell and Stratford High Schools where she was employed for more than twenty years.
Nancy was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and good friend to many, especially her mother Ellen, who lived with Nancy and family throughout her life.
Nancy enjoyed life with a positive attitude, lots of energy and humor. A kind and caring neighbor, Nancy was affectionately known as "The Angel of William Street".
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and son Gary. Survivors include her son Kenneth, daughter-in-law Marcia Standiford and granddaughters Ellen and Grace.
Her family wishes to thank the many care givers at Coventry Village/Sebring Memory Care for their exceptionally loving care and kindness, and Agrace Hospice Care for their care and guidance.
A visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1:30 PM with prayer services at 12:30 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Dennis and D'Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.
