Mary Florence Simpson, age 102 of Stratford passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2015 at her home. She was the widow of Leonard Simpson who passed away in 1980 after 42 years of marriage. Born in Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY on October 28, 1013 she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Flora McGilvery Henderson. Mrs. Simpson graduated from Pasadena Junior College and was employed at Birdseye School in Stratford for 20 years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield. She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Dr. Donald Simpson and Joyce Hay and her husband Bruce all of Stratford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rev. Don Hay and Kathy Josephson along with 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford with Rev. Jim Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home prior to services.
