Mary
Romano
d. Jul 19, 2024
Mary Louise (Morgia) Romano, age 94, of Milford entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 19th with her daughter by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Patsy Romano for 47 years. Mary was born to Umberto and Palmerina Morgia on January 22, 1930 in Bridgeport. She graduated from Harding High School in 1948.
Mary was predeceased by her brother Nicholas Morgia and sister in law Mae Morgia.
She is survived by her son Victor (Sharon) Romano, her devoted daughter Pamela Carroll, and her brother Captain James Morgia, US Army, Ret, all of Stratford. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren Chuck Carroll (Christine) of Southbury, Jennifer Petro (Rob) of Stratford and Justin Romano also of Stratford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her greatest joy was her great grandchildren. She was lovingly known as GG by Lizzie, Hannah and Connor Frankel and Tatum, Gabby, Kallie and Braeden Carroll. She loved spending time with them whenever she could. They were so fortunate to have had a great grandmother for so many years.
Mary worked for many years at Lafayette Bank in Bridgeport where she was head teller. After her retirement from the bank she worked for the Bridgeport Nutrition Center as a lunch lady extraordinaire at Bassick High School. In her younger years she was an avid bowler. She loved to entertain and have people over for outdoor gatherings to play wiffle ball and volleyball. She was lovingly known as "Spike" due to her aggressive playing. Mary enjoyed traveling, with Puerto Rico being one of her favorite destinations. She enjoyed bus trips to the casino to play the slots as well as to Broadway.
For the past several years, Mary lived at West River Healthcare in Milford. There she received tremendous love and care from the incredible staff, especially her favorite caretakers Simone, Tiana and Sandra. The family would like to thank everyone who helped with Mary's care, in particular her social workers Taylor and Steve. Thanks also goes out to Connecticut Hospice for the special care they gave to Mary.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West River Recreation Department, through venmo to Jennifer Petro (@jenpetro511 - 4 digits 7964). Please reference "GG" in the notes. To offer condolences please visit www.dennisanddarcy.com
