Mary R Keane, 97, of Stratford, CT, most recently of Glastonbury, CT died March 14, 2016 after a brief period of declining health.
Born April 29, 1918, daughter of the late Captain Andrew and Augusta Mac Taggart and wife of the late Harold F Keane Sr., Mary was a graduate of Milford High School and Butler Business School. Mary had a long career as assistant to the CEO/President of Raybestos Manhattan and chaperone to the Raybestos Brakettes Women's Softball team on their travels. An independent woman, Mary enjoyed travel, bowling (Jolly Bowlers) and became an avid golfer in her retirement years. Mary is survived by her stepson Harold Keane (Betty) of MA, nephew Fred Phelan (Mary) of Stratford, nieces Sharon Huss (John) of Washington Crossing, PA, Patricia Mencel (William) of Glastonbury and Cheryl Dworman (Dennis) of El Dorado Hills, CA and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Mary goes to join her siblings August Mac Taggart (Emma), Josephine Phelan (Frederick), Charles Mac Taggart (Florence), Andrew Mac Taggart (Antoinette), Ann Lengyel (Joseph) and Isabel Holmquist (Paul). The clan has gathered. Funeral services will take place on Saturday. March 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street Stratford with Deacon Raymond Chervenak officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Saturday Morning from 10:00 am until time of services.
