Obituary

Marland (Red) Maynard, age 86, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Mabel Kost Maynard passed away on Friday May 23, 2014 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Saco, Maine he was the son of the late Leland and Bertha Wagner Maynard. Red was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army as a Tech Sgt in the Medical Infantry. He was a retired salesman for Remington Rand and Sperry Univac which he won numerous awards for his achievements in sales. Red attended the University of Maine and Boston law school. He was devoted to his children and his church and beloved by his neighbors. He played semi- pro baseball and was an outstanding high school football player. Growing up in Maine, he was a life guard at Old Orchard Beach where he meet his beloved wife Mabel. Survivors include a son, Gary Maynard of Stratford, a daughter, Deborah Kardisko of Derby, daughter in law, Barbara Maynard, of Stratford. five grandchildren, Allison Maynard, Wendy Loxley and her husband Chris, Tammy Maynard, Brian and Lauren McCabe, a great grandson, Everett and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Richard Maynard and brothers Leland and Donald Maynard. Friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Garden Mausoleum with full Military Honors. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday May 27, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford.
