Obituary

In Loving Memory of Marilyn Watrous

Marilyn Watrous, 75, passed away on October 29, 2026, due to a chronic gastrointestinal condition. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable sadness in the hearts of those who loved her, her life leaves behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, generosity, and quiet, unwavering love.

Born on March 17, 1951, Marilyn grew up in Stratford, Connecticut, where her roots were planted and her story began. There, she later married her beloved husband, Thomas Watrous.”

Together they shared 55 years of marriage, building a life and family with their two daughters, Rebecca and Dana.

Marilyn will be remembered most for her heart of service. She was the kind of woman who gave without keeping score, helped without being asked, and loved without needing recognition. She had a remarkable way of caring for others, often putting their needs before her own, and doing so without complaint. Her love was not loud or boastful; it was found in the countless thoughtful things she did, the needs she quietly met, and the comfort she brought simply by being there. She faithfully loved and cared for her husband, Thomas, and those closest to her knew the way she lived her life.

Her favorite pastime was gardening and among the flowers she cultivated more than blossoms; she nurtured beauty, life, and little pockets of wonder. She understood the quiet reward of tending something day after day, patiently nurturing what could not yet be seen, and celebrating each new bloom. Her gardens were a reflection of her spirit—full of color, life, and the gentle beauty that comes from a loving hand and steadfast spirit.

And then there was her kitchen. So much of Marilyn's love found its way to the table. It was a place of nourishment, generosity, and the unmistakable comfort of a home where there was always something delicious being prepared. She had a gift for making food that brought people together, and her kitchen was one of the ways she said, "I love you." Whether through a carefully prepared meal, a familiar favorite, or simply making sure everyone was fed, she served others with a generosity that will be remembered in every recipe, every shared meal, and every gathering around the table.

Marilyn leaves behind her beloved husband, Thomas Watrous; her two daughters, Rebecca and Dana; and her six cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Clara, Emma, Alina, Judah, and Brex. Her family was a treasured part of her life, and the love and prayers she poured into them will continue through generations.

Marilyn's legacy is not measured in accomplishments or possessions, but in the lives she touched, the people she cared for, the beauty she cultivated, and the countless ways she made life a little sweeter for those around her.

Though her hands will no longer tend the garden or prepare a meal, the seeds of love she planted will continue to grow in the hearts and lives of those she leaves behind. Her flowers will bloom, her recipes will be shared, and her spirit of generosity will live on in the family she loved so dearly.

“She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.”
