Obituary

Marie C. Georgette Lockshier, age 99, a lifelong Stratford resident passed away peacefully at Maefair Health Care Center in Trumbull on Friday, November 27, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Stratford on August 7, 1916 she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Marianne (Costantini) Georgette. She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Leo Lockshier. Upon her graduation from Stratford High School at an early age of 16, Marie worked at the Remington Arms Company in Bridgeport. Marie was an accomplised seamstress creating her own patterns for clothing she designed, including outfits, matching hats and handbags. She created beautiful prom dresses and bridesmaid gowns for her daughters. Marie enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for holiday events and summer picnics for the entire family. For years she prepared meals for her family after attending Sunday Mass at St. James Church where she was a parishioner for over 80 years. Marie was an avid reader and a great fan of the UConn Women's basketball team. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Survivors include her two devoted daughters, Lenore (Lee) Mihalik and husband Robert of Stratford and Jean LaPierre of Stratford; grandchildren, David LaPierre, Matthew LaPierre, Christine Bazata and Dyan Griffin; great grandchildren, Ella Marie LaPierre, Sarah, Julia and Tae Bazata; and Kayleigh and Grace Griffin and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving son-in-law, Raymond LaPierre and her brothers, John, Joseph and Albert, and two sisters Anne and Lucille.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday December 4th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford celebrated by Monsignor Martin P. Ryan. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford.

Visiting hours will take place on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Dennis & D Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home,2611 Main St. Stratford.

Heartfelt thanks to all the compassionate people at Maefair, especially Nadeige, the staff of the third floor, as well as the Physical Therapy and Recreation departments who cared so lovingly and offered great comfort.
