Marie Blake's Obituary
MARIE EISENMAN BLAKE, our wonderful, amazing Mom/Nana joined our dad in heaven on Christmas day.
Marie was born on July 25, 1928, one of five children of
Regina and Clarence Eisenman. She graduated from Stratford High School and landed her first job as a secretary in the Stratford Town Hall. There she met her future husband and the love of her entire life, Richard. They were married on June 26, 1948. Their two daughters, Bonnie M. Glovaski and Betty J. Powers were blessed to have them as
parents. Marie and Richard would spend their lives in Stratford serving their community.They were very involved in the Stratford Rotary Club, the Stratford Public Library, and especially the Stratford Historical Society. They truly enjoyed traveling with their friends in the YMCA travel club and later with their great friend Robert Romatzick to many countries of the world. Marie loved tennis, walking, theater, anything with a red bird on it, and the color purple. She appreciated a good cup of tea and was a lifelong learner.
After the death of her dear husband Marie lived a strong independent life for many years, continuing to volunteer and travel with her family. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. Her life was centered in the families of her daughters, celebrating each graduation, marriage and birth with joy. Marie met the challenge of
Alzheimer's disease, never losing her gentle spirit. In addition to her husband, Marie was predeceased by her parents, her favorite Aunt Emma, brothers Clarence and William, and sister Mildred. Also son-in-laws Thomas Glovaski and James Powers. Her sister Regina survives her. There will be no calling hours. We, her family – daughters,
Bonnie and Betty, grandchildren – Matthew Glovaski and wife Christy, Laurie Kulig and husband Jack, Jessica Miller and husband Rory, Blake Powers and wife Jill, as well as greatgrandchildren – Kaden, Thomas, Lauren, Kenzie, and Jack are all thankful for the many lessons she taught us.
