Maria Catani
Mucciacciaro
d. Aug 19, 2025
Maria Catani Mucciacciaro passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 14, 1936 in Cuffiano, Marcone, Providence de Benevento, Italy, she was the daughter of Emilio and Adalorata (Caporaso) Catani. After moving to the United States, she made her home in Stratford, Connecticut. Maria leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith.
Maria lived a life marked by devotion, both to her faith and to those blessed to know her. A faithful servant of God, she would always listen with compassion, love without condition, and serve with humility. As an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister with her late husband and quilted alongside women in fellowship. She was awarded with the St. Augustine Medal of Service for her exemplary dedication to Christ.
Maria was a talented seamstress and was known for her exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail. She began sewing as a young girl in Italy, where she would often stay with families for weeks, sewing custom clothing for entire wedding parties. This passion continued throughout her entire life as she lovingly sewed for close family and friends, reflecting the immense pride she took in her work. Her sewing room was more than a workspace; it was a place of peace and joy.
In addition to her parents, Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Biagio Pasquale Mucciacciaro; sister, Adelina Catani and brother, Guiseppe Catani. Maria is survived by her cherished daughters and their husbands, Rose Marie and Lawrence Ciacci of Milford, Antonella and Joseph Sanfilippo of Fairfield, and Donna and John Centopani of Trumbull; grandchildren, Michael, Christina and her husband, Anthony, Anthony, Jennifer and her husband, Bradley, Christopher, Daniel, John, Joseph, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Augustus, Elliot, and Juliana; several nieces, nephews; and her loving neighbors.
