Obituary

Margaret K. Reed. age 99, of Cromwell, passed peacefully on November 25, 2017 in Middletown. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Rhodes Knight and Georgia Moore Parmenter Knight. She was predeceased by her husband, Seaton Armstrong Reed, Sr. of Stratford. Margaret was born on July 30, 1918 in Springfield, Ohio and she grew up in Baltimore, MD. She had the pleasure of living in numerous states including New York, Nebraska, Virginia, Indiana, and lastly, Connecticut.

Margaret graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson, MD, and attended Hood College in Frederick, MD, and Eaton Burnett in Baltimore, MD. She was an active member in her communities and belonged to many organizations including, Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society Founders & Patriots of America, Gibson Island Yacht Club, Edgar Allen Poe Society, Jocelyn Art Museum, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum, and Trinity Episcopal Cathedrals. She also had a long career at The Famous Store in Portsmouth, VA.

She is survived by her son, Seaton Armstrong Reed, Jr. and his wife, Laura of Trevett, ME; her daughter, Georgianna Reed Pulver and her husband, Robert, of Lamoine, ME; grandsons Brian Armstrong Reed (Cheryl) of Westfield, NJ, Scott Whitman Reed (Jennifer) of Hingham, MA, and Vail, CO, and Stefan Robert Pulver (Joanna) of Crail, Scotland; as well as seven great-grandchildren, and several cousins.

Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Dennis and D'Arcy – Abriola and Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, at 2:00 pm with Reverend Doctor Paul Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Stratford. Donations in her name may be made to Notre Dame Preparatory School, 815 Hampton Lane, Towson, MD 21286 and Altar Guilds of Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 Court Street, Portsmouth, VA 23705.
