Obituary

Marcia Elaine McClanan passed on June 24, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness.

Born in Pennsylvania, Marcia grew up in Stratford, CT.  After graduating from Stratford High School in '63 she attended UCONN earning a Bachelor's degree.  Shortly after she married and raised her two children in Marlborough, CT.  Always based in Connecticut with her friends and family nearby she found her perfect final home in Shelton.

Marcia was an avid traveler visiting six continents and all fifty states.  Cruising was her favorite way to see the world, taking her first voyages with her family at an early age.  Living in Singapore and Australia solidified her love of seeing new places and meeting new people.  Ready to head out at any time, Marcia always had her next two trips planned out.  When at home she was an avid reader and enjoyed her bridge group, who played together for decades.

Marcia enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. She was able to talk about anything and everything, and would quickly find new friends wherever she went.  Once you passed muster you became family.  Marcia took great enjoyment in being a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend to the "extended" family throughout the world.  Marcia was willing to do anything for those she loved.

Marcia was predeceased by her father, Henry Kryzanski, mother, Anne Kryzanski (Kopatch), son Keith McClanan and brother, Henry Kryzanski Jr.  She leaves behind her son, Mark McClanan, grandchildren, Noah and Megan McClanan, Christian McClanan, Connor McClanan, Ian McClanan, and sister Karen Stone, brother-in-law Jim Stone, nephew and nieces Adam Stone, Jaime and Scott Fitts, and Megan and Bryan Schmeiser.

A special thanks to Shana Kay who made her final days the best they could be.

In lieu of flowers Marcia would prefer a donation to your local Animal Shelter.
