Lenore (Lee) Elaine Bassett Starratt, age 79, passed away peacefully on December, 10, 2020. Born in Bridgeport, CT on March 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Milton Bassett Sr. and Lillian Bassett. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Malcom Starratt. She is also survived by her sons; Gregory (Dawn) of Lake George, NY, and Doug of Shelton, CT; her grandchildren Shannon and Robert Starratt; her sister-in-law Dixie Bassett , and nieces and nephews, Tracey Bauer, Cindy Doughty, Milton Bassett III, Richard Bassett and Linda Ossola. She was predeceased by her sister Lillian Doughty, brother Milton Bassett Jr., and nephew Leon Doughty.
Lee was a long time resident of Stratford, CT and a short time resident of Stuart, FL where she attended and graduated from Martin County High School. While in high school she was active in the school art program as well as being a member of the school swim team. She returned to Stratford after high school and worked in the administrative departments at Ashcroft, Raybestos, Ross & Roberts, The United Way of Fairfield County and Sikorsky Aircraft. After a break from raising her two children, Lee worked in the Stratford School System at the administrative office and as a secretary at Flood Junior High School where she enjoyed working with the administrative staff, teachers and especially the students. Lee was a member of the First Congregational Church in Stratford where she was baptized, married her husband Malcolm, and actively participated in the activities of the church, and the choir for 25+ years. Lee was a member of the Masonic organizations including Rainbow Girls, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of The Nile, and Order of the Amaranth which she became Worthy Matron in 1967-1968. She was also appointed to be a state representative for the state of South Carolina by the Connecticut Order of the Amaranth.
Because of current concerns regarding social gatherings, a funeral and interment service was held privately for the immediate family. Interment was at Union Cemetery, 23 Temple Court, Stratford on December, 15, 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lenore's name may be made to the Shriners Hospital or to the First Congregational Church of Stratford (2301 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615). A celebration of life for Lenore will be held in the Spring of 2021.
