Kerwin D. Lanz age 85 of Stratford, CT passed away on Monday March 9, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Jean H.
(Kesses) Lanz. Born in New Haven, CT on March 21, 1929 he was the only son of the late Seigfried and Elsie Lanz. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of the Uconn School of Engineering, class of 1950 earning his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was an active member in the Stratford Senior Men's Club as well as the Stratford United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing tennis, watching Uconn Athletics and working around his Stratford home where he resided for 50 years. His greatest pleasure however was spending time with his loving family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, other survivors include his son Kerwin M. Lanz and his wife Melanie Lanz of Farmingdale, NJ, son Alan D. Lanz of Manchester, CT, daughter Cynthia J. Shoopman and her husband Kirk Shoopman of Auburn, WA, sister Joyce Gross and her husband Edward "Ted" Gross of Guilford, CT, his loving grandchildren Wesley, Hillary and Abbey Lanz and Kelsey Heimann, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and interment will be private. Kerwin chose to have his friends remember just his life. Friends are welcomed to greet the family at a reception on Saturday March 14, 2015 in the Parish Hall at the Stratford United Methodist Church at 12 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615
