Kenneth M. Anderson, age 83 a lifelong resident of Stratford passed away at his home on Monday, May 11, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Waterbury on September 13, 1931 a son of the late J Alfred and Beatrice Sherwood Anderson. He proudly served as a Hospital Corpsmen with the US Navy during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After his discharge from the Navy he attended University of Bridgeport. He owned and operated Anderson Printing CO in Bridgeport for 35 years. Ken was an avid outdoors man. He had a passion for hiking, white water canoeing, kayaking, sailing and fishing to name a few. Throughout his life he was a member of many organizations such as the Appalachian Mountain Club, Newtown Fish & Game, Black Rock Yacht Club and Steep Rock Association. He was also a Mason for 50 years and a lifetime member of the SAR. He zest for the outdoors and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving children; Stephen Anderson of Pheonix, AZ, Robert Anderson and his wife Kelly of Littleton, CO and Linda Anderson of New Orleans, LA. His brother; Robert Anderson of Stratford and sisters; Arlene Bartine of Stratford, Judith Jordon of New Harmony Ut; and Fay Tomlinson of Hillsboro, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Talia, William, Erika Anderson and Karen McIntyre. Great grandchildren; Estrella and Allie. Ken was predeceased by his son Richard Anderson. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11:00 am directly to Putney Cemetery, Stratford with Rev. Ed Rawls officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Special thanks to the Medical Oncology Cancer Center at the New Haven VA.
