El Reverendo Juan Bernardo Lora, 94 años de Stratford, falleció el sábado 16 de marzo de 2019.
Se llevará a cabo una Celebración de vida el sábado 23 de marzo de 2019 a las 1:00 p.m. hasta las 4:00 p.m. en la casa Funeraria de Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford CT 06615. Nacido y criado en la República Dominicana, el Reverendo Juan Bernardo Lora ha servido al Señor desde su adolescencia. Se unió al seminario católico romano cuando tenía solo 14 años y finalmente sería ordenado como sacerdote católico en sus veinte años. El Pare Lora sirvió como como sacerdote y ministro en la Iglesia Católica Romana por mas de 20 años antes de enamorarse y finalmente casarse con su esposa Nildya Amelia. Tuvieron dos hijos, José Bernardo y Bernardita Amelia Lora y mucho más tarde también adoptaron a Luis, que era uno de los niños en su cuido de Foster care.
El padre Lora y Nildya finalmente llegaron a los Estados Unidos donde nació su hijo primogénito, José Bernardo. El padre Lora finalmente se unió a la Iglesia Episcopal y fue ordenado como diácono y fundó la congregación hispana en la Iglesia Hollyrood en Manhattan, Nueva York. Después de algunos años, el padre Lora fue ordenado sacerdote episcopal y luego se mudó a Norwalk Connecticut, donde ayudó a plantar y hacer crecer una congregación hispana llamada "Casa de Betania". Ahora se une a su esposa de 46 años en el Reino celestial de Dios. Le sobreviven su hijo y su hija y sus 6 nietos que lo extrañan mucho y lo amarán para siempre.
The Rev. Juan Bernardo Lora, age 94, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday March 23, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford CT 06615. A Celebration of Life will take place during the calling hours at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, The Rev. Juan Lora has served the Lord since early in his adolescence. He joined the Roman Catholic seminary when he was only 14 years old and would eventually be ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest in his twenties. He served as a priest and minister in the Roman Catholic Church for 20 years before falling in love and eventually marrying his wife Nildya Amelia. They had two children, Jose Bernardo and Bernardita Amelia Lora and much later in life they also adopted Luis who was one the children in their foster care.
Father Lora and Nildya eventually came to the United States where their first-born son, Jose Bernardo, was born. Father Lora eventually joined the Episcopal Church and was ordained as a deacon and founded the Hispanic congregation in Hollyrood Church in Manhattan New York. After a few years, Father Lora was ordained as an Episcopalian priest and later moved to Norwalk Connecticut where he helped plant and grow a Hispanic Congregation named "House of Bethany" or in Spanish "La Casa Betania". Father Lora spent his remaining years as a servant of the Lord in "Betania" until his retirement.
The Rev. Juan Lora was known for his dedication and service to the Lord and for his gentle kindness and humbleness. He was loved by everyone in the church and by anyone who came to meet him. He now joins his wife of 46 years in God's heavenly Kingdom. He is survived by his Son and Daughter and by his 6 grandchildren who miss him greatly and will love him forever.
