Obituary

Joseph Nadhazi, age 78 of Stratford entered this world February 15, 1936, native of Hungary he was the oldest of 9 brothers and 2 sisters. Joe worked as a farmer and a steam locomotive engineer in his home country. Joe made his was to us escaping from his country during the Revolutionary War. He arrived to the USA in 1956 in Bridgeport with the shirt on his back. Within 24 hours he had a job and later became a US citizen. Joe worked at Trio Industries in Shelton where he was a master machinist and department head supervisor and also worked 2 jobs to get his life started. Joe married Patricia Rilski and had 4 children; Mark Nadhazi and his wife Amy, Joe Nadhazi and his wife Sophia, the late Mike Nadhazi and his wife Janet and Chris Nadhazi and his wife Diane. Later in life Joe remarried to his loving wife of 35 years Priscilla Samu Nadhazi, his baby! He started another chapter of his life and loving family of 3 children; Dawn Kopec and her husband John, Tammy Roman and her husband Tony and son Keith Scheck. Joe had 12 grandchildren; Johnny, Amanda, Daniel, Brian, Cassie, the late Christina, Noah, Mark, Lucas, Shyanne, Samantha, and Margaret, also his adopted son Paul Bryon. Joe had a super green thumb. He loved being in the garden in the summer and enjoyed the heat, more hotter the better. A ice cold beer, a shot and a cigarette made everything perfect. He loved the outdoors, camping and his favorite hobby was fishing any time he could. He was a active NRA member and had a passion for hand guns and rifles. He was tough as nails on the outside but a soft kind hearted man in the inside. Joe passed peacefully in his home in his bed with his loving family surrounding him at his bedside. He's fishing in Heaven now. We all love you, you will never be forgotten, your family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:30 am directly to St. James Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Bruce Roby officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date. Friends may greet the family on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.
