Joseph A. Lia, age 64, of Wallingford passed away on Friday January 31, 2014 at his home. He was born in Italy, raised in Stratford, and was a graduate of Bunnell High School. He was a material manager for Sikorsky Aircraft for thirty five years before his retirement. Joseph served his country proudly in the US Marines during the Vietnam War and was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed traveling, collecting cars and guns. Survivors include his beloved wife Deanna Pack Lia, his loving parents, Adelmo and Emma Pagliaroli Lia of Stratford, a stepdaughter, Kayla Paugas of Bronxville, NY. two sisters, Paula Lopetigui of Spain and Joanna C. Lia of Bethany, nieces and nephews, Mario Lia, Carla Lia, John Lia, Olivia Lopetigui and Nerea Lopetigui. He was predeceased by his brother John Lia. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday February 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. meeting directly at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. There will be no visiting hours and those who desire may make contributions in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org.
