Obituary

John J. McLaughlin Jr. age 67, beloved husband of Lorraine S. Kowalski McLaughlin of Bridgeport passed away on Friday May 22, 2015. Born in Bridgeport he was the son of the late John J. McLaughlin Sr. and Carmella Ann Giordano McLaughlin. A life long Bridgeport resident, John was a graduate of Central High School. He was a computer programmer before joining the Bridgeport Fire Department in 1977 and retired in 2002 as a pumper engineer after 25 years of faithful service. He was dedicated to serve the people of Bridgeport with the highest level of professionalism and to create a safer community. John was a member of the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum and Bugle Corp and played in the Park City Pool league. An avid golfer, he started playing at the age of nine and continued his passion for golf playing at Fairchild Wheeler in many tournaments. He enjoyed salt water fishing and spent many days at St. Mary's By the Sea. Survivors in addition to his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 42 years, Lorraine, include 3 sons; John L. (Elizabeth) McLaughlin of Torrington, Brian J. McLaughlin of Bridgeport and
Michael P. McLaughlin of Torrington, six loving grandchildren; Elianna, John Jr., Caitlynn, Madison, Michael Jr. and Brittney. Brother in laws; Leonard (Cindy) Kowalski and Edwin Kowalski and nephews, Leonard and Jamie Kowalski. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert C. McLaughlin and his sister; Karen Ann McLaughlin. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday May 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church, 2523 Park Ave. Bridgeport. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford.
