Obituary

John "Jack" Martin Shea Jr., of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital on May 16, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was 91.

Jack was the beloved husband of Audrey Kaull Shea for 64 wonderful years. Born on September 8, 1934, in the Fifth Ward of Newport, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late John M. Shea Sr. and Mary Tiernan Shea.

Jack graduated from DeLaSalle High School in Newport before proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and successful 38-year career with Sikorsky Aircraft, where he worked as a planner for the S-76 program until his retirement.

A devoted husband and father, Jack deeply enjoyed being involved in his children's activities and youth sports. He coached Trumbull Little League, Trumbull Rangers Football, and served as head coach of St. Catherine of Siena CYO Basketball, leading the team to the 1977 New England Regional Semi-Finals.

Jack was a proud member of the Gaelic American Club and a Second-Degree member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Whether spending time in Trumbull, Lordship, or Vero Beach, Florida — where he was affectionately known as the "Mayor of Vero" — Jack never met a stranger and treasured the many friendships he made throughout his life.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife Audrey, Jack is survived by his children, Katrina (Patrick) Lane, Timothy (Holly) Shea, and Daniel Shea and his fiancée, Kathleen Moore; his seven cherished grandchildren, Jack, Claire, Brady, Cooper, Tanner, Maggie, and Riley Shea; as well as several nieces and nephews in Newport, Rhode Island, and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

He was predeceased by his beloved son, Andrew Shea, Ph.D.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., directly at Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford, with Fr. Mark Pinto officiating. Full military honors will follow the Mass. Interment will be held privately in Newport, Rhode Island.
