John Louis LaRosa Sr. age 88 of Milford passed away peacefully on January 23, 2015 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the son of the late Nicola and Virginia LaRosa and was a retired construction worker for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478. John was an United States Army Veteran of WWII and enjoyed gardening, dancing and was a member of the Milford Senior Center and the Baldwin Senior Center. He was predeceased by his wife Irene Rita German LaRosa, his companion of 15 years, Jean Riolo, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include 2 daughters, Joyce L. Northup and husband John of Madison and Cheryl Peterson and husband George of Bridgeport, 1 son John LaRosa Jr. and wife Diane of CO. 4 grandchildren, Jesse (Kerry) Burke of Rumford, RI, Shiloh Burke of Warwick, RI, George (Stephanie) Peterson of NC and Candace (Rob) Hayes of NY and 9 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 29, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford. There will be a service of remembrance at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening for family and friends in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
