John Michael Devitt, 54, of Stratford, died Monday, September 5, 2022, in a motor vehicle accident near his home.

Born February 27, 1968, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Sonja Muelder Devitt and the late Paul Vincent Devitt.  He has been a Stratford resident since he was six years old.

John attended Stratford public schools and graduated from Bunnell High School in 1987.  After graduation he was employed by People's Bank, RBS, and most recently by Citizen's Bank.   Also known as "Johnny D," he was a faithful friend to many.

He loved the New York Yankees and for many years had season tickets.  He was also a Steelers fan.  He enjoyed attending many Stratford concerts and events.  For the past several years he was blessed by the companionship of Michele Shedlock and her family as he enjoyed these and other activities in Stratford.

John is survived by his mother Sonja and his sister Monica Rose Devitt, both of Stratford.  He was a devoted son and brother, whose unique sense of humor and quick wit produced laughter and joy whenever they were together.
