Joan (Bubbles) French Agvent, age 82 a life long resident of Stratford passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Gardner Heights in Shelton. She was the beloved wife of Edward Agvent Sr., recently celebrating their 61st anniversary. Born in Bridgeport on December 9, 1931, she was a daughter of the late George E. French Sr. and Jennie Gerlach French. Joan was retired from the accounting office at Remington Arms Co. after 25 years. Bubbles was loved by all who knew her, she had a great sense of humor and always put others first. She will always be remembered for her hand knitted Christmas stockings that she enjoyed making for family and many friends. She also enjoyed working on the computer to research her family tree, successfully going back several generations. In addition to her devoted husband Edward, she is survived by her son, Edward Agvent Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Stratford and her granddaughter, Alison, who was the center of her universe. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Vars and her husband William of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, George French Jr. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Gardner Heights in Shelton for their compassionate care of Joan. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford with Pastor Cathy Rohrs officiating. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford. The hours of visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
