Jay J. Genetti, 77, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026.

Born on November 25, 1948, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Jay dedicated his life to service—both to his country and his community. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to duty and honor.

Jay went on to serve the City of Bridgeport as a police officer for 37 years. Throughout his distinguished career with the Bridgeport Police Department, he earned the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of the community he faithfully protected. In addition to his service on the force, Jay was actively involved in his police union, serving as a union executive for many years and advocating for his fellow officers.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Genetti; his sons, Gregg Genetti and his wife Leslie, and their son Nicholas; and Jon Genetti. He also leaves behind his step-sons, Jorge Rivera and Jamie Rivera, along with extended family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jay's life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
