Janet "Gert" M. Carroll, age 83, of Stratford passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was the widow of Thomas D. Carroll. Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 15, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Leon and Irene Chamberlain Merrill. Janet was employed as a cafeteria worker for the Stratford school system where she worked for many years. She is survived by her loving companion of 25 years, Donald E. MacFadden, her daughter Donna L. Popielasz of Seymour, her son Jeffrey T. Carroll and his wife Ginger of Gainesville, Virginia, five grandchildren Lisa, Brian, Jacqui, Ally, and Christian, three great-grandchildren Aaron, Anthony and Elizabeth along with several nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her brother Leon (Tim) Merrill and her sister Jessie Brown. Friends may greet the family at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford on Friday December 30, 2016 from 12 to 2 pm.
